What it is for

The purpose of the Renewable Energy Study is to inform the preparation of the South Downs Local Plan Review covering the plan period 2022 to 2040. SDNPA requires a consultancy to provide evidence base for a renewed Local Plan policy approach towards renewable energy, including: a-developing criteria for and assessing potential allocation sites for renewable, low carbon energy, including their technical suitability for the technology, mainly solar and wind, and their landscape and other impacts on the purposes of the National Park, including cumulative impacts and compatibility with the National Park's strategy for nature-based solutions to adapt and mitigate for climate change; b-Having engaged with local stakeholders, providing recommendations for a locally specific policy that would include support for community energy proposals and individual small scale schemes for domestic and other buildings; and c- identifying any other opportunities to provide support within the Local Plan Review for development that would help to meet the objectives of the Authority's Climate Change Adaptation Plan and Strategy.
