What it is for

The Great British Energy Solar Partnership (GBESP) Programme is the first major project for the Government's recently established Great British Energy which is investing £80 million across 200 schools and colleges, with the aim of taking decisive action to cut carbon emissions, energy use and bills, and to aid schools' journeys to net zero carbon whilst engaging the whole school community. This contract is for the delivery of solar PVs at Rakegate Primary School. The opportunity was conducted by Mace Consult Ltd, on behalf of LocatED, an arm's length body of the Department for Education. The opportunity was advertised via the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) eSourcing Tool on 9 July 2025 with a submission date of 5 August 2025. The procurement procedure followed was a framework mini competition (CCS RM6313 Demand Management & Renewables DPS) in accordance with Public Contract Regulations 2015. This route to market has been decided because the Great British Energy Solar Partnership was procured by Mace Consult Ltd, on behalf of LocatED to achieve economies of scale across the project, which seeks to install energy reduction systems across a portfolio of up to 57 schools in the Midlands.
