What it is for

A Coastguard Rescue Vehicle (CRV) is a blue light fitted response vehicle equipped to support Coastguard Rescue Team Search and Rescue operations. They are equipped to allow the provision of casualty care (first aid, rescue stretchers), searches and water safety/rescue. Where required these vehicles are also equipped with rope rescue and mud rescue equipment 4x4 Pickup vehicles are currently the best option to provide this capability cost effectively, these vehicles can be easily configured for emergency response role, and are required to operate in a variety of environments and in all weather. These purchases are direct vehicle replacements for vehicles lost during accident, beyond economical repair and to replace older pickups with a modern euro 6 engine reducing carbon emissions whilst maintaining operational effectiveness. In line with the general exemptions from the Governments Fleet Commitment for emergency response vehicles fitted with blue warning beacons, HMCG will continue to work towards and progress the greening of HM Coastguard blue light fleet through low emission and zero emission vehicles when opportunities allow as evidenced through the fleet of EV vehicles also procured during this financial year. These purchases have been secured using the Crown Commercial Services framework RM6244 (Lot 4 Bluelight Cars and Motorcycles (Emergency Services).
