What it is for

The works comprise a pre-construction contract for the Little Bispham to Bispham & Gynn Square to Cocker Square Coast Protection Scheme (sections B1.2 & B1.4 of the Blackpool coastal frontage, respectively). The project comprises a series of Rock Headlands, with associated cross over access ramps, that are designed to stabilise or reverse the long-term beach lowering trend at the toe of the existing defences. The works also include urgent repairs to the existing coastal defences (e.g. recasting/patch repairs to selected areas such as where there is exposed reinforcement or significant cracking). This will include recasting beach access steps where required for public safety and major improvements to the slipway at Little Bispham. The extent and details of the urgent revetment repairs, recasting access steps and slipway improvements will be developed and fully defined during the detailed design phase.
