What it is for

On 2 January 2025 Cabinet agreed the implementation of 'Library Flex', an innovative delivery model for eight of the larger Buckinghamshire libraries that will increase access and deliver cost savings. Library Flex involves the use of new technologies to enable customer access to unstaffed library sites. This technology allows library members to access the library using their membership card and PIN, enabling them to use the library to borrow books, use computers, and access other library services without staff presence. Buckinghamshire Council Library Service conducted soft market research, and awarded Lyngsoe the contract to provide the self-operated technology via a direct Award using the Surrey County Council Framework for the provision of Unattended Library Self-Service Access - Technology and Associated Services.
