What it is for

Luton Central Library is a building in Central Luton which, as the name suggests, houses Luton's main library. The building is also home to The Library Theatre, a 238-seat theatre located on the 3rd floor and other ancillary uses It consists of 4 floors including basement. Recently the Children's library has been relocated to the upper floors which has left the majority of the ground floor vacant, ready for refurbishment to accommodate Luton Family Hub, Luton Access and a shared reception. The upper floors and basement will remain in use during the course of the works to the ground floor. Luton Borough Council (LBC) is proposing to refurbish and enhance the ground floor layout to accommodate "Luton Family Hub" and "Luton Access "The ground floor internal works will include reconfiguring areas of the internal spaces, erection of individual built in furniture/sliding folding partitions and a new "off the shelf" reception desk. There will be some repositioning and enhancement of existing power and data.
