What it is for

It has been identified by the education and training department of the Trust that the current clinical staff, especially new joiners lack experience of working with down syndrome patients. It was identified that a supplier named 3B Scientific as the only manufacturer of this product and requested a quotation for a specialised down syndrome simulation manikin. Furthermore, after a reviewing this quotation from the supplier, the project team were assured that the product would meet the requirements of the Trust and can be accommodated within the budget available. This manikin is made from a real down-syndrome 14-year-old patient including every little detail such as scars and injuries to provide a real time experience and shall be used for training staff on how to treat and care for patients with such conditions before they work on real patients. Also, the manikin is being bought as a one-off purchase for lifetime and requires no maintenance. Additional information: This is a one-off requirement and does not have any associated maintenance costs.
