What it is for

Background: The reference genome for pollack originated from a specimen collected from the English Channel. Cefas require a supplier to perform long read sequencing (using nanopore, pac-bio or other appropriate platform) on pollack samples collected from alternative areas of the Northeast Atlantic. This work will feed into ongoing population genomics projects by providing better resolution for regional genomic markers. Requirement: To aid with the above project, Cefas require long read sequencing and the supplieris asked to provide a cost per sample. As standard, muscle tissue samples are provided in LVL genetic sampling tubes with ethanol: https://www.lvl-technologies.com/en/sample-storage/safe-2d-tubes-engl/safe-96-tissue-collection-951. • Samples will be submitted as they are received by Cefas from externalcollaborators with the final sample submission date being February 2025. • DNA extraction (high molecular weight). • DNA QC information supplied to Cefas before library preparation. • Library preparation of samples. • ~20 samples* aimed to be sequenced at x30 depth using PacBio or applicablelong-read sequencing platform. • Raw sequencing files to be provided in fastq.gz file format, delivered on hard disk *Please note that sample numbers may vary from the above
