What it is for
Provide a new VCC facility to replace the existing PCVL building. The new facility should be designed in line with the VCC Design Guide. There is a requirement to construct a temporary PCVL building for the duration of the project. The scope of works included the demolition of the existing PCVL building and site preparation (inc new access gate). The existing services were due to be relocated to allow for the updated design. A new purpose built building consisting of a steel frame with brick cladding and internal block work walls. The building would consist of a ground floor and first floor roof space which serves as a plant area. This would be accessed via an internal staircase. The plant would consist of Air handling unit and heating and hot water would be provided via an air source heat pump. The ground floor consists of a holding room/access area, wing office, toilet facilities, IT room, VCC suites and a domestic visits area. A constructor has been appointed for the design and build of the project. This is a two stage Design and Build Contract let under the PPC2000 (Amended 2013) Form of contract. The original estimated value of the contract was calculated by MOJ, and its Cost Consultants following desktop and non-intrusive surveys and was based on information reasonably known at the time and arrived at via a thorough and appropriate methodology. The first stage will involve the constructor providing Pre-construction surveys and design services at a cost of £442,800. It is expected that the total construction cost of the project will be c£5m.
