What it is for

The works comprise of retrospective drainage works of existing accommodation units, required to gain full planning permission to retain the units permanently. Accommodation units were installed across the MoJ Estate between 2020 as part of the COVID / MUDR programmes. The COVID and MUDR accommodation units will continue to be used to manage prison capacity pressures whilst permanent places are provided in the estate to offset the losses. These units have been used successfully to support compartmentalisation and have proven to be beneficial to prisoners who are accommodated in them. The MoJ are seeking to retain the units permanently and are seeking full planning permission. A constructor has been appointed for the design and build of the project. This is a two stage Design and Build Contract let under the PPC2000 (Amended 2013) Form of contract. The original estimated value of the contract was calculated by MOJ, and its Cost Consultants following desktop and non-intrusive surveys and was based on information reasonably known at the time and arrived at via a thorough and appropriate methodology. The first stage will involve the constructor providing Pre-construction surveys and design services at a cost of £304368.
